Switching Your Media Buying Agency is Easier Than You Think
Many businesses mistakenly think that transitioning to a new media buying agency will be a long and drawn out process with many obstacles to overcome. The truth is that the process is much easier than you may think.
It’s our job to make things as simple and seamless as possible, especially for new clients who are switching from their former media buying agency to Mid-Atlantic Media Hub. There’s no lengthy paperwork, no awkward communications with the former firm, and virtually no disruption to the advertising you’re already running – unless of course it’s time to change things up.
If you’re considering switching your media buying agency now or even months from now, take a look at our process and put to rest any thoughts that doing so would have a negative impact on your business. Really, there is much to be gained!
If you are in a contract with another firm…
If you are signed into a contract with your current agency, you must honor that contract through completion, or choose to break terms. You will want to read your contract carefully so that you understand if there are any penalties for severing the agreement early.
Additionally, it’s always worth having a direct conversation with your current agency and explain to them your desire to move to another firm. As professionals, the agency may be understanding and allow you to end your existing contract without penalty. If this is not the case, consider whether paying the penalty is still worth it. You might be surprised to learn that even with a penalty, switching to a new media buying agency will still save you money in the long-term, especially if you were being overcharged.
If you are not in a contract…
No contract? Things just got even easier! You are free to move to a new media buying agency right away, after giving notice to your current agency. You’ll want to be careful before signing any other contract with your new agency. Read the terms carefully, and negotiate when possible.
At Mid-Atlantic Media Hub, we don’t make our clients sign any contracts when working with us. We work on a handshake and in our experience this has never ended on bad terms. Because we take great care to get to know every client before we begin working with them, allowing us to build trust and familiarity, our clients are consistently satisfied with our working relationship.
The only paper a client needs to sign is a Letter of Agreement (LOA) which lets the media know that we’re working together so they can give us access to past media buys the client has made. This is essential for us to do a full review of any client’s advertising strategy and to work to develop their best strategy moving forward.
Additionally, our agency is happy to continue working with a client’s preferred media reps, because we respect those local relationships. We don’t cancel any direct media contracts that are in place when we come in, unless requested by the client. We like to honor all past agreements and make the transition as smooth as possible for everyone involved!
Are you considering switching up our media buying agency? It could be a great opportunity to take a fresh look at your advertising strategy and confirm that you’re spending money in the most effective way possible. Now that you know it’s not a long or difficult process, we suggest giving it a serious consideration. Just as you would switch other vendors you work with for any number of reasons, you must feel confident to do the same with your media buyer.
