How Your Brand Impacts Efficient Recruitment
Your brand impacts all areas of your organization. From company culture and the talent you attract, to the quality of your work and customer service. Your brand also impacts your ability to recruit top talent. Think about it. Just as much as you want to hire the best employee for your business, that employee also wants to work for a company that aligns with his or her values and mission. This is why it’s so important to pay attention to the brand you’re conveying to future talent. Because even if you’re not paying attention, they are. How can you enhance your brand to help achieve efficient recruitment and attract the best talent? We have some powerful tips to share!
First, it builds credibility. Having a strong, well-positioned brand makes you recognizable in your market and lends credibility for prospective employees. They want to “do business with people they know” just like a consumer. If you’re a business that people already know about – your quality of work, passion for your industry, and how you recognize and reward employees – this will draw the interest of more talent.
Second, it weeds out prospects who aren’t a good fit. If a job seeker’s personal or professional characteristics don’t align with your brand, it’s a strong indication that they are not the right fit. The stronger your brand, the easier it is to compare it against future hires. You need to know who you are and what you stand for if you want to hire people who align with these beliefs. And for those who are not a good fit, it will be more obvious which can save you from a bad hire.
Third, it sets expectations. Your brand can help you recruit people who are creative, loyal, innovative, or whatever else you convey in your messaging. When interviewing prospective employees, you can set the expectation for how you expect them to represent your business and the work they do for you. From day 1, you will be able to lay the standard of a solid brand as to how things operate within your business and the commitment you have to your customers.
And Fourth, it gives you something to stand behind. As an employer, your hiring decisions are backed by your brand. Finding the right people to staff your business is hard in any industry. As an employer, if you begin to feel confused as to who is the right person to bring on board, simply return to your brand. What type of business are you trying to cultivate? What is your vision and mission? Your brand speaks to all of these things and will help guide you in the right direction.
